FAQs For Flat Panel satellite antenna

During the operation for our uSat flat panel satellite antenna, the customer will have many frequently asked questions, then please see our answers below.

1. The description of IF chain as follows:


22K switching through ACU.

LNB power supplied by Modem.


2. What is the uplink/ downlink speed for this satellite terminal?

The uplink and downlink transmission rates of the portable satellite terminal are related to the strength of the satellite signal, the hardware configuration of the HUB station, such as the antenna diameter, the BUC power, and the uplink and downlink rates of the HUB station for this terminal. The uplink and downlink transmission rates are also related to the BUC power configured in the portable terminal, therefore, even if given, there is only one approximate range 512K~20Mbps, which has no reference meaning.

When using traditional satellites and 3W BUC, the uplink rate of uSat Satellite Terminal is between 256 Kbps to 1 Mbps.

When using HTS satellites and 3W BUC, the uplink rate of uSat Satellite Terminal is between 1Mbps to 10 Mbps.


Specific conditions need to be determined by link budget based on local satellite coverage data and antenna aperture of the HUB.


3. How long does it take to start re-point, if you ‘move’ the antenna slightly?

If the angle changes, start the pointing process within 1 minutes; If the angle does not change, only the signal changes, start the pointing process within 3 minutes.


4. The open AMIP got iDirect approve, how do you get the certificate? What is open AMIP and how does it work?

Through the prototype test of foreign customers, the terminal will point to the high-throughput satellite Intelsat-29e, Modem works normally (on-line). ACU communicates with Modem through Open AMIP protocol, records and outputs relevant data to host computer, and outputs it in the format specified by iDirect. Then the document is sent to iDirect for review, and the audit process needs to be coordinated with network testing at all times.


5. When the flat panel satellite antenna is starting, it will check the BUC, LNB automatically, what items it will check?

At startup, BUC and LNB's self-checking will be preliminarily detected, it is whether the components are normal through voltage detection.



6. How can show the S/N number for Modem?

The QR code on the nameplate of the portable terminal can be displayed, the OLED also can show (Enter by special methods).


7. When flat panel satellite antenna LED shows locked the satellite, the signal level is minimum value or maximum value?

The locking mark is to achieve a certain threshold (that is, minimum requirements). If it is an automatic satellite terminal, it will automatically search for the best signal location, while manual terminals and fixed terminal need manual adjustment. Regarding the specific methods, please refer to Terminal instructions.


8. When the flat panel satellite antenna was not pointing at the correct satellite and it also did not stop. Why does the locked light show?

The Satellite Terminal must conduct a complete sweep to find the maximum signal quality in the range.


At present, there are five cycles in the satellite terminal's sweep cycle. During the sweep process, the weak satellites signals may be captured, and the locked light will turn on. When the sweep continues, the weak satellite signals disappeared, and the locked light will turn off.
